The new W Hollywood Hotel & Residences has debuted in Hollywood, Calif., at the historic intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced last week. The $350 million hotel has 305 guest rooms, 143 W-branded residences and 25,000 square feet of meeting and event space."Opening in Hollywood, the epicenter of pop culture, marks a true milestone in W's global expansion into the world's most exciting and vibrant destinations," W Hotels Worldwide Brand Leader Eva Ziegler said in a statement. "W Hollywood further demonstrates our passion for entertainment as well as our leadership in cutting-edge design, which sets the stage for W's unique lifestyle programming that will make W Hollywood the coolest place in town."Registered for LEED Silver certification, the W Hollywood—which features an onsite train and bus station to help it reduce its carbon footprint—also is the largest property registered for LEED certification in Southern California.Amenities at the new hotel include an onsite restaurant, a 6,000-square-foot spa and an open air rooftop pool deck, bar and nightclub.According to Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the opening of the W Hollywood "kicks off another year of international growth for W Hotels, which is on track to more than double its global portfolio by 2011."
