6 Up-and-Coming European Destinations

These off-the-beaten-path destinations will impress attendees

Incentive travel can be a great way to keep your employees engaged and provide additional motivation for driving up sales and reaching targets. It can help your team stay focused on reaching goals, provide a memorable experience for the winners and even increase loyalty because the memories from the holiday will be associated with your company.

But while it's clear that incentive travel can be a great tool for reaching your organization's goals, it can seem like something that would be too costly for you to even try. But that's just not the case.

You don't have to spend thousands of dollars to offer a memorable trip for your employees. In fact, you can reap the full benefits of incentive travel even if you don't have a large budget. Event management companies or event planners can help you create an incentive travel package that's right for your budget and your individual needs.

And a part of saving money is selecting the right destinations. Here six budget incentive travel destinations that can be the perfect getaway for your employees.

Valetta, Malta
Malta is a unique island destination located just off the coast of Italy. Despite its size, it can be the perfect destination for a quick getaway at an affordable price. Valetta, Malta's capital city, is one of the most historic places in Europe and is recognized as a World Heritage Site.

Because of Malta's small size, you can quickly reach any part of the island, but don't be fooled: even though it may be small, there is enough to see to keep you coming back again and again.

But it's not just about exploring historical places; there are also plenty of scenic beaches if you want to relax, and some of the best seafood options you'll find. Malta is well-connected with mainland Europe via flights at a great price and is also quite affordable in terms of accommodation.

Porto, Portugal
Porto is a picturesque city located on the steep banks of River Duoro, and despite Lisbon still being the most popular tourist destination in Portugal, Porto is the city that might be the more charming of the two.

Although it's a bit smaller than Lisbon, it's still bustling with life and offers a unique blend of incredible food, rich culture, and vibrant social life that attracts thousands of people each year.

Portugal may be a bit harder to reach than Spain, but it's a destination that's not yet as fully explored and can offer an intriguing experience as an incentive travel destination.

Prague, Czechia
When it comes to beer and beautiful architecture, you can't really beat Prague - it's been a staple of a quality European getaway for a long time, and it doesn't seem like that's going to change anytime soon.

What could be better for your employees than enjoying some of the best traditional light beers in the continent after a tough project, while at the same time admiring the gorgeous Old Town, the Prague castle, and the Vysehrad fortress, just to name a few of the main attractions.

And the best part is, Prague is very affordable compared to many of the big cities of western Europe, so you don't have to break the bank to provide your employees with an unforgettable experience.

Vilnius, Lithuania
Another city that's quickly becoming one of the more popular European destinations, thanks in part to its affordability, is Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania (pictured above).

It offers a unique blend of rich history, historic buildings and amazing architecture, which includes the largest old town in Europe with all of its amazing baroque and gothic churches.

But Vilnius can offer much more than just exploring the historic sites -- you'll find friendly people, probably the best beer in northern Europe, and very affordable accommodations and entertainment options to keep your incentive travel budget in check.

Budapest, Hungary
Budapest is a city that's famous for its incredible diversity -- it's basically two unique and diverse cities separated by the Danube river, as they were only formally connected in 1873.

On one side, you have Buda, a city built on a series of hills, with many incredible monuments and historic buildings. On the other, Pest, flat and without any significant hills, and always bustling with bars and rich nightlife.

Together, they can offer travellers the complete experience that contains exploring a city with deep historic roots, a busy nightlife in a city that never sleeps, and incredible food.

But while the famous thermal baths might be the highlight of your incentive winners' trip, what you'll love to hear is that Budapest is perhaps the most affordable city on this list, and can be a great getaway option for an incentive travel prize if you don't have too much money to spend.

Sardegna, Italy
Italy is simply the perfect travel destination -- the breathtaking nature, a culture that spans millennia, and the best food in the world make it a top choice for millions of people each year.

But mainland Italy, and especially the bigger cities such as Rome or Milan, can be quite pricey, which is not ideal if you want to provide your employees with a memorable vacation while still controlling the costs.

However, there is a solution: Sardegna, an island off the west coast of mainland Italy, which offers everything that the mainland can, and more, for a much more affordable price. Picturesque towns such as Alghero or Bosa on the northwest coast, the ever-bustling Cagliari on the south, and most importantly -- breathtaking nature all throughout, make Sardegna an island that will provide endless cherished moments for your best employees.
