U.S. News & World Reports today released its 2018 Best Hotels List, ranking the top properties throughout the U.S., Europe, Canada, and Mexico.
In the United States, Hawaii and Chicago dominated the top of the list, with the Four Seasons Resort Lanai (pictured) taking the top spot and its sister property, the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai ranked No. 5. The Peninsula Chicago and The Langham, Chicago took the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively, and Twin Farms in Barnard, VT, rounded it out at No. 4.
The rankings were created by scoring hotels ranked four-star and above using industry awards, along with reviews by both guests and industry experts. In all, more than 24,000 properties were ranked. The top 10 percent of ranked hotels were awarded a Gold badge.
In the U.S., California had the most hotels ranked by U.S. News, with 377, followed by Florida with 293, New York with 264, Texas with 139, and Illinois with 89. As for specific destinations, New York City was by far the leader, with 231 registered properties, followed by Los Angeles (87), Chicago (84), Miami Beach (72), and Washington, D.C. (58).
