The Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool (ACC Liverpool) -- a U.K. meeting venue consisting of BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena, and Exhibition Centre Liverpool, which is opening in September 2015 -- has appointed a U.S. market representative, it announced last week.
The rep, Peter Berry of Berry2 & Associates, will be charged with bringing more international and North American meetings to Liverpool, England.
"Peter shares our vision and recognizes that Liverpool is a city that has flourished over the past decade and will continue to do so, particularly with the addition of Exhibition Centre Liverpool, which will enable us to attract larger international congresses," ACC Liverpool Director of Sales Kerrin MacPhie said in statement. "His objective will be to identify associations which are looking to grow their European membership in addition to helping organizations explore new territory with confidence."
Berry was found and president of Association Resources, a Hartford, Conn.-based association management firm, for more than 30 years. He now provides association and meetings management consulting services.
"ACC Liverpool is one of the success stories in the U.K. meetings industry and has an interesting international growth plan," Berry said. "I met the team at IMEX America in 2012 and was immediately struck by everyone's enthusiasm to expand beyond U.K.- and European-based events and in turn generate more economic impact into Liverpool. I feel I can support these exciting strategic plans through my experience in the American market."
