To Attract More Meetings Business, Raleigh CVB Hires External Sales Team

The Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (GRCVB) has signed a contract with Chicago-based national sales office Hinton + Grusich, it recently announced. The contract, which began Jan. 1, 2009, will enable Raleigh to expand its reach to key feeder markets such as New York, Atlanta and Denver, where Hinton + Grusich has sales offices, and where the GRCVB wants to court new and larger groups with which to fill Raleigh-area meeting facilities.

"We are excited about having our world-class facilities marketed by such a respected industry organization," GRCVB President and CEO Denny Edwards said in a statement. "This dynamic partnership will build brand awareness for our area and generate direct economic impact. It will also allow Wake County's hotels and meeting space to be presented in markets where we currently have limited representation."

Hinton + Grusich has put 10 salespeople in charge of sourcing qualified meeting and convention leads for Raleigh in key markets, while the GRCVB's existing sales staff continues to do the same in local markets while filtering sales leads from Hinton + Grusich to participating hotels and the Raleigh Convention Center.

"The Raleigh area is undergoing significant change and revitalization with the opening of the Raleigh Convention Center, new hotels and meeting space," Hinton + Grusich President Bill Grusich said in a statement. "We are excited to represent an area that is quickly gaining notoriety as a premier meeting and convention destination."
