Twenty U.S. cities generate 6.5 percent of the country's solar power, despite sitting on just 0.1 percent of American land.
That's the finding of Shining Cities: Harnessing the Benefits of Solar Energy in America, a recent report by the Environment America Research & Policy Center. While a number of the top ten U.S. cities for solar power are located, unsurprisingly, in the Sun Belt, there are some surprises on the list (see number four).
