The Palms South Beach Begins Renovation in Miami Beach

The 243-room Palms South Beach in Miami Beach, Fla., has commenced a multi-phase renovation that will encompass its public areas and guest rooms, beginning with its lobby and meeting space, it announced this month.

The first phase of renovations at the independently owned and operated property—which has been renamed The Palms Hotel & Spa—is expected to be completed by April 2009 and will include updates to the building's exterior, its pool area and its eight meeting rooms, which total 8,000 square feet. It will also include the introduction of a new, 5,000-square-foot Aveda concept spa and a new signature restaurant, called Essensia.

The second phase of renovations, meanwhile, will include guest room upgrades and will be complete by spring 2010.

"What has always set our hotel apart is its definitive island feel married with the world-class service and amenities of a city centre hotel," Vice President of Marketing Katja Janzon said in a statement. "We've now taken this to yet another level, offering a natural and genuinely relaxing experience in a luxuriously casual environment."
