Florida's first TRYP by Wyndham hotel has opened in St. Augustine, on the state's northeast coast, Wyndham Hotel Group announced last week.
Only the third TRYP by Wyndham hotel to open in the United States, TRYP by Wyndham Sebastian St. Augustine is located in St. Augustine's downtown historic district, beside the San Sebastian River. It features 95 guest rooms, an onsite gastrobar serving tapas-style dishes, free Wi-Fi, an electric car charging station, an outdoor pool and fire pit, a 24-hour fitness center, and meeting space for groups of up to 30.
"The TRYP by Wyndham brand's urban flair, local expertise, and inimitable style makes it a perfect fit for cities big and small -- the kinds of places where travelers seek out rich culture and authentic moments," said Kate Ashton, brand senior vice president, TRYP by Wyndham. "Joining the St. Augustine community gives us the opportunity to deliver an unmatched hotel stay to the more than 6 million visitors who flock to this area each year, helping them discover and uncover new gems and experiences throughout this charming city."
The TRYP by Wyndham brand originated in Spain and now encompasses more than 110 hotels around the world. Designed to cater to "urban" travelers in cosmopolitan destinations, it currently has two other U.S. hotels -- in New York and Atlantic City, NJ -- but plans to increase its U.S. portfolio by more than 200 percent this year thanks to planned openings in Fort Lauderdale, FL; College Station, Texas; Newark, NJ; and Long Island City, NY.
