Next month, Starwood will be opening a first-of-its-kind dual property in Huntsville, AL, the hospitality company has announced. Element Huntsville is opening on April 4 on floors seven through 11 in the Westin Huntsville as a separate extended-stay hotel. This will be the first such complex in the country, with both the Westin and Element by Westin brand in one location.
The first floor of the hotel building will have one entrance for Westin guests and a separate entrance, lobby, check-in desk, and elevators for Element guests. Element Huntsville consists of 150 rooms including 68 suites, all with full kitchens. A complimentary daily breakfast bar, daily evening food and beverage receptions, and a gourmet, on-site market place are among its features. Designed to be "green from the ground up," Element Huntsville is committed to practicing sustainable and environmentally friendly initiatives and is LEED certified.
Element made history when it launched as the first major hotel brand in 2008 to mandate that all U.S. properties pursue the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certification.
The 210-room Westin Huntsville has 10 meeting rooms and 13,000 square feet of meeting space. It will be expanding to 22,000 square feet by the end of the year. The complex is located in the Cummings Research Park and the Bridge Street Town Centre.
"Westin is already such a high-profile brand," says Mark Nelson, general manager for the Westin Huntsville. Nelson's team will oversee both brands at the hotel complex. "By bringing Element to the top floors of the hotel complex, we will attract even more prominent guests while providing a high-class experience for all of our guests."
