SpringHill Suites Opens as Downtown Cincinnati's First New Hotel in Two Decades

A new SpringHill Suites hotel has opened with 122 rooms in Cincinnati, where it is downtown's first Marriott, not to mention its first new hotel since 1984, the property's management company, Commonwealth Hotels, announced this month.

"The addition of a new hotel property is always in and of itself noteworthy, but when it is brand-new construction, it's even more exciting," Commonwealth Hotels President Dan Fay said in a statement. "This opening signifies the first downtown Marriott product as well as the first new product in the downtown market since 1984."

Located adjacent to Eden Park, the SpringHill Suites Cincinnati Midtown features an indoor swimming pool, an exercise room and meeting space for small groups of up to 12 people. In-room amenities include a mini-fridge, microwave, LCD television and complimentary high-speed Internet access.

"By all means, this opening is a positive indicator that a number of entities believe in the long-term viability of Cincinnati USA as a destination," Fay concluded. "Despite current economic constraints, this new property signifies the collective optimism shared by Commonwealth Hotels, [owner] Corporex and the entire Cincinnati USA region."
