Shreveport-Bossier CVB Named Louisiana's Best

The Louisiana Travel Promotion Association has named the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau in Shreveport, La., its "Outstanding CTB of the Year," local newspaper the Shreveport Times reported last week.

The CVB was recognized for its strategic use of leveraged partnerships, its fiscal responsibility, its consistent branding and marketing, and its positive sales efforts.

"We are humbled to receive the high honor of CTB of the Year and to be recognized by the state and our peers for our hard work and dedication to growing tourism in northwest Louisiana," CVB President Stacy Brown said in a statement. "Our efforts have strengthened tourism overall and generated increased revenue in taxes for Caddo and Bossier parishes, as well as the state of Louisiana."

According to the Shreveport Times, Shreveport-Bossier led the state every month in 2009 in hotel occupancy, ending the year with a 68.4 percent occupancy. Louisiana's year-to-date average was 57.4 percent; Baton Rouge's was 58.5 percent, Lafayette's 51 percent and New Orleans' 57.7 percent.
