Sheraton Hotels Opens Sixth Hotel in India

The sixth Sheraton hotel has opened in India, the Sheraton Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway. The opening is part of the Sheraton’s $5 billion global expansion effort and supports the brand’s strategic growth across India, where it expects to open three additional hotels in 2012.
The newly constructed, 230-room hotel is directly connected via a sky bridge to the World Trade Center Bangalore and the massive Orion Mall and Multiplex. Sheraton Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway provides more than 21,000 square feet of flexible meeting and pre-function space, including one of the cities largest ballrooms.
“Next to China, India is the hottest hotel market in the world with tremendous growth potential. We see great opportunity for the further expansion of Sheraton across India, where the demand for high-caliber global brands is expected to far exceed supply in the next several years,” says Hoyt Harper, global brand leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts.
Sheraton will continue its growth trajectory in India with plans to open three more hotels in 2012: Sheraton Chandigarh Hotel, Sheraton Mysore, and the Sheraton Visakhapatnam Seaview Resort. Sheraton boasts a current portfolio of more than 400 hotels in 75 countries. In the next two years, Sheraton plans to add more than 60 new hotels and more than 20,000 rooms to its global portfolio.
