London's Park Lane Hotel Receives 'Sheraton Grand' Designation Following Renovation

Sheraton Grand London Park Lane - Suite

Fresh from a multimillion-pound renovation and restoration encompassing its guest rooms and public areas, the Park Lane Hotel in London's upscale Mayfair neighborhood has been rechristened the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced today.

Originally opened in 1927, the 90-year-old Park Lane Hotel has been a Sheraton since 1996. Its new "Sheraton Grand" status is an acknowledgement of its superior quality and design, according to Starwood, which launched the Sheraton Grand portfolio last year as part of Sheraton 2020, a five-year, 10-point plan designed to put the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts brand "firmly back into the global spotlight" and make it the "go-to brand" for meeting planners. Sheraton Grand hotels are premier hotels with "enticing destinations, distinguished designs, and excellence in service and guest experiences," according to Starwood.

"Following a stunning renovation on this Art Deco hotel in the heart of Mayfair, we are very proud to welcome the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane into this premier tier of hotels as it represents the Sheraton brand's new elevated and customized approach to design," said Elena Mendez, Starwood's vice president, Sheraton, Westin, and SSB brands in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. "The designation of the Sheraton Grand status heralds in a new era for the renovated hotel, becoming one of London's emblematic historic hotels once again, further reinforcing Sheraton as a trusted voice in global travel."

The 303-room hotel will officially relaunch as a Sheraton Grand in October, when it will unveil its new design. The top-to-bottom renovation included a meticulous restoration of the property's historic Art Deco elements, as well as the introduction of new, contemporary touches. Highlights include the addition of 43 Sheraton Club rooms and suites, reconfiguration of the hotel's 21 suites to maximize space, and the opening of a new destination restaurant.
