The 1,840-room Sheraton Dallas Hotel in downtown Dallas has entered the first phase of a $90 million renovation project that will eventually encompass its lobby, guest rooms and meeting space, it announced last month. The four-phase renovation is scheduled for completion in summer 2009.
"Our entire Sheraton Dallas team is excited to undergo a renovation of this magnitude and we look forward to transforming our hotel into a place where guests can kick back, relax and feel that they truly belong," General Manager Ray Hammer said in a statement. "Most importantly, we are pleased that the renovations will be conducted in a manner that causes the least amount of disruption to our guests so that we may continue to provide the superior, personal touches that are so firmly associated with the Sheraton brand."
Phase one of renovations at the Sheraton Dallas will include changes to the hotel's fourth floor fitness center and swimming pool, its registration desk and part of its lobby. Phase two, meanwhile, will include the rest of the lobby and the hotel's fourth-floor meeting spaces. Phase three will include updates to meeting spaces on the third and upper floors, as well as the historic Chaparral Club. The fourth and final phase of renovations will encompass the hotel's second floor meeting spaces. Guest room renovations will take place throughout all four phases of the project.
Among the changes taking place at the Sheraton Dallas are the addition of flat-panel HDTVs in all guest rooms and suites, the installation of touch screen electronic monitors as directional guides in hallways throughout the hotel and the makeover of lobby and meeting room interiors, which will be given new carpeting, lighting fixtures and more.
Finally, green initiatives have also made their way into the renovations, which will include the addition of fluorescent lights, motion sensors and energy-saving appliances throughout the hotel.
