Sheraton Arrives in Memphis

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened Memphis’ first Sheraton-brand hotel, it announced this week.

Connected to the Memphis Cook Convention Center in downtown Memphis, the Sheraton Memphis Downtown Hotel — previously the Memphis Marriott Downtown — is currently in the midst of a renovation that will align it with Sheraton’s brand standards. It has 600 guest rooms and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting space, not to mention a full-service restaurant and lounge, an indoor pool, a fitness center and a Sheraton Club Lounge.

“Sheraton is delighted to be part of the Memphis community with the opening of this terrific downtown property as we continue to aggressively expand the brand in dynamic destinations, worldwide,” Hoyt Harper, global brand leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, said in a statement. “Sheraton Memphis Downtown Hotel will welcome travelers with a stylish, comfortable and social atmosphere where they can enjoy all the brand’s recently enhanced signature services and amenities in a convenient location near leading Memphis attractions.”

Added Memphis Mayor A C Wharton, “I am excited to welcome Sheraton to downtown Memphis. The multi-million dollar enhancement project they have planned is impressive. It will provide visitors to Memphis with high-quality accommodations and first-rate meeting space that aligns well with other things we are doing to make Memphis a city of choice, and to focus on growing the city to prosperity.”
