In pursuit of more green business, the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau (SFCVB) has partnered with Greenopia, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based company that reviews green products and services, to utilize the company's "Green Leaf" ratings on its Web site,
www.onlyinsanfrancisco.com/green.
The system, which rates businesses with one to four Green Leaf icons based on the level of sustainable products and services it provides, will enable San Francisco-bound meeting planners to select the most environmentally friendly vendors—including restaurants, hotels and even grocery stores—for their green meetings and events.
It will also enable SFCVB members to assess their businesses from an environmental standpoint, and to market themselves to both green meeting planners and their eco-conscious attendees.
"The SFCVB's partnership with Greenopia will benefit visitors by giving them information about local businesses that are committed to the environment," SFCVB President and CEO Joe D'Alessandro said in a statement. "It will benefit SFCVB members by providing the means and motivation to 'green' their businesses. And it helps strengthen San Francisco's leadership as a green destination."
