Whether you want to see a hit Broadway musical or host a private group event, Utah's capital city has a new cultural venue in which you can do it: the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater, which opened last week in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.
The new venue includes the 2,500-seat Delta Performance Hall, which features unique lighting inspired by a starlit Utah canyon, and the 150-seat, multi-use Black Box theater, which will cater to local performances and community events.
The theater, which has applied for LEED Gold certification, also has an onsite restaurant and numerous private event spaces that can be reserved for groups of 10 to 350, including its six-story lobby with retractable glass walls that can be opened to the plaza outside.
"The Eccles Theater is a beautiful and welcomed addition to our thriving downtown cultural district," said Scott Beck, president and CEO of Visit Salt Lake. "In addition to it being a beautiful building, its anticipated LEED certification shows a continuation of our destination's commitment to sustainability."
