SLS Las Vegas Announces Opening Date

Los Angeles-based nightlife and hospitality company sbe will open its highly anticipated Vegas hotel, SLS Las Vegas, on Labor Day weekend, it announced last week.

The hotel — located on the northern end of the Las Vegas Strip in the space formerly occupied by the iconic Sahara Hotel and Casino, which closed its doors in 2012 — will include more than 1,600 guest rooms and suites, 10,000 square feet of high-end retail, 30,000 square feet of meeting space and a collection of sbe's existing restaurant and nightlife brands, including a reinvention of the popular L.A. nightclub, The Sayers Club, and restaurant concepts such as The Bazaar by José Andrés, Katsuya, Cleo, 800 Degrees, Umami Burger and L.A.’s The Griddle Café.

“We see the northern end of the Strip as the future of Las Vegas, and we’re pleased to be positioned at the forefront of that growth,” sbe Founder, Chairman and CEO Sam Nazarian said in spring 2012, upon announcing the hotel project. “Las Vegas has recovered steadily in the past year, and we’re excited to be able to inject capital back into the local economy through the adaptive reuse of the famed Sahara.”
