Ritz-Carlton to Host Royal Wedding Viewing Party in D.C.

The royal wedding that's taking place this month between Prince William and Kate Middleton is being billed in many circles as "the wedding of the century." Because they know better than most what it takes to plan a big event, meeting planners are likely to be among the guests staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C., on the day of the wedding, when the hotel is hosting a special "Royal Wedding Breakfast & Viewing Party."

Starting April 29 at 5 a.m., the party will include a broadcast of the royal wedding on 60-inch flat-screen TVs in the hotel's Lobby Café, where Executive Chef David Serus will serve a commemorative morning breakfast buffet featuring British specialties such as scones with clotted cream and jam; English rasher and bangers; and black pudding.

The breakfast also will include 18-carat sapphire cupcakes from Executive Pastry Chef Daniel Mangione; a specially commissioned Twinings Royal Wedding Commemorative Blend sourced from Middleton's home county of Berkshire; a display featuring two bridal gowns inspired by Middleton; and special prizes for guests who wear their best Royal Wedding-appropriate hat or ascot.

For guests that want to stay overnight on April 28, the evening before the wedding, the hotel is offering a "Royal Wedding Package" that includes accommodations, champagne cocktails upon arrival, two reservations to the Royal Wedding Breakfast & Viewing Party, specially engraved champagne flutes, a copy of the book "William & Kate: Celebrating a Royal Engagement," and overnight valet parking.
