Raleigh Hosts Chambers of Commerce Convention, Eyes Meeting Referrals

The American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) held its 2009 annual meeting in Raleigh last week at the new Raleigh Convention Center, local news Web site MyNC.com reported.

The meeting, which was expected to attract more than 900 chamber of commerce executives and partners from around the world, gave Raleigh the chance to showcase itself as a destination to a captive audience of chamber professionals, many of whom hold key positions as business leaders in other local and national industry associations.

According to Harvey Schmitt, president and CEO of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, the city is counting on meeting attendees to refer Raleigh to peers and colleagues in their hometowns who are looking for attractive meeting destinations.

"I am proud that we are able to host the 2009 ACCE Annual Conference at the new Raleigh Convention Center," Schmitt said, according to MyNC.com. "This meeting is a great way to showcase Raleigh and the Research Triangle to chamber professionals from around the country and the world. These visitors have rich networks of contacts and they will spread the word about all the good things that are happening in our region."
