Meeting attendees and convention-goers in Raleigh, N.C., can now browse the Internet and check their e-mail at a fraction of the speed they're used to, as AT&T has installed an in-building system at the Raleigh Convention Center that gives event participants access to its third-generation (3G) wireless broadband service.AT&T has already invested more than $1.2 billion in its North Carolina wireless and wireline networks and plans to expand its broadband service there further by adding more than 90 new cell sites across North and South Carolina this year."North Carolinians have understood for decades that they can depend on AT&T to continually invest in and deliver the most advanced communications services and technologies available," said AT&T North Carolina President Cynthia Marshall. "Today's news further demonstrates our commitment to give our customers across the state a high-quality experience whether they are at home or on the go."Because of its speed, customers using AT&T's 3G network can access advanced mobile wireless services, such as video sharing and video streaming."AT&T's 3G wireless broadband network gives our customers the ability to stay connected to the information and content that is most important to them, which includes attending an event at the Raleigh Convention Center," said Alison Hall, vice president and general manager for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets in the Carolinas. "We are committed to providing our customers with a top notch network experience each and every time they use their AT&T Mobility device in Raleigh to make a call, send a text message or surf the Internet."
