Pittsburgh, Cleveland Join Forces for Destination Marketing

Although they're arch rivals in sports, Pittsburgh and Cleveland are teaming up on tourism with a new destination marketing partnership, their CVBs, VisitPittsburgh and Positively Cleveland, announced last week.


Because they're only 130 miles apart, Pittsburgh and Cleveland will use the marketing partnership to attract visitors from each other's city, residents from which will receive special offers and discounts when they book hotel rooms and buy attraction tickets through the CVBs' respective websites.

"The focus of the campaign is on the similarities between the cities, but with a nod to the unique qualities each has to offer," said VisitPittsburgh Executive Director of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Tinsy Lipchak. "This just makes sense from a business and hospitality standpoint. Ohio is Pittsburgh's No. 1 feeder market, and we expect that this promotion will attract even more visitors from the Buckeye state."

Both VisitPittsburgh and Positively Cleveland are focusing a portion of their media buys in each other's respective cities.
