On Sunday, Phoenix, AZ, welcomed the first convention into Phase I of its $600-million Phoenix Convention Center expansion. Called the West Building, the new, four-story structure features more than 150,000 square feet of dedicated space, including 16 meeting rooms comprising 26,000 square feet, a 62,000-square-foot, underground-exhibition space that is divisible into two halls, a 21,000-square-foot dedicated conference center, a 45,000-square-foot ballroom, and a 90-foot, stone-and-glass atrium. Phase II, which is scheduled for completion in 2008, is expected to feature 635,000 square feet of dedicated space.
