Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, has announced a Dec. 1 opening date for its new convention center, Meliá Hotels International announced yesterday.
Designed by renowned architect Alvaro Sans, the new facility totals just under 18,000 square feet and includes state-of-the-art A/V capabilities, including an “Experience Lounge” where the resort’s events team can showcase 3D site visits of the new convention center, complete with customer branding and set design.
“In this ‘lounge,’ the customer will put on 3D Stereoscopic glasses during the site visit process,” the resort explained in a press release. “After walking through the space on the visit, the guest will then experience what the room will feel like with set design and technology elements custom designed to fit their message and meeting time.”
The new convention center also will be environmentally friendly thanks to a new green meetings program that will ensure efficient energy usage, waste minimization and reduced carbon emissions during all meetings and events.
“Conference planners have asked us for larger, more flexible space, high unobstructed ceilings, and high tech audio visual offerings,” says John Iannini, senior director of sales, meetings and events for Melia Hotels International. “We are responding directly to the needs of our customers by expanding our conference capabilities in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.”
