The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has chosen Vancouver, B.C., and Austin, Texas, as the host cities for its 2016 and 2017 “Convening Leaders” annual meetings, it announced yesterday.
The Vancouver meeting will take place Jan. 10-13, 2016, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The Austin meeting, meanwhile, will take place Jan. 8-11, 2017, at the Austin Convention Center. The former facility is certified LEED Platinum and the latter LEED Gold.
“Convening Leaders is the premier meeting industry event,” says PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton. “Our participants and partners attend this event to not only learn and network, but also to experience locations for their future meetings. We are excited about Convening Leaders going to Vancouver and Austin for the first time, as each city has its own unique attributes and vibe and will be of extreme interest to PCMA’s diverse audiences.”
In the last seven years, Convening Leaders has grown its attendance by 27 percent, from approximately 2,900 attendees in 2006 to more than 3,700 in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Next year’s meeting takes place Jan. 12-15 in Boston, and the following year’s Jan. 11-14 in Chicago.
