The Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has chosen Nashville as the host city for its 2018 "Convening Leaders" annual meeting, it announced this month. The meeting, which will take place Jan. 7-10, 2018, at Nashville's Music City Center, is expected to draw more than 4,000 attendees.
"Convening Leaders is the premier industry event for leading meeting professionals," PCMA President and CEO Deborah Sexton said in a statement. "Our participants and partners attend this event every January to network with their colleagues from around the globe and seek out meeting innovation for their upcoming programs. Convening Leaders was last in Nashville in 2002 and a lot has changed; we're excited to show off the city's southern hospitality and all of the new options available for meeting producers."
In the last nine years, Convening Leaders has grown its attendance by 29 percent, from approximately 2,900 attendees in 2006 to 4,128 in 2015. Next year's meeting takes place Jan. 10-13, 2016, in Vancouver, and the following year's Jan. 8-11, 2017, in Austin, TX.
"We couldn`t be more pleased with the selection of Nashville for 2018," said Butch Spyridon, president and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. "PCMA has always been an important partner and asset to our sales and marketing efforts. 2018 could not be better timing and we want to assure everyone that we will exceed expectations."
