Orlando CVB Courts Citywide Conventions With Integrated Sales Force

As part of its strategic 2010 sales plan, known as "Roadmap 2010," the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau will integrate its sales force with that of the Orange County Convention Center, forming one of the country's largest destination sales forces focused on citywide conventions, it announced this week.

Beginning in December, the newly combined sales force will include 10 account managers from the Orlando CVB and seven from the Orange County Convention Center—all located under one roof at the convention center, according to the CVB, so that sales reps can streamline the proposal process, enhance communications and reduce duplicative efforts.

"This is an exciting step for our destination's sales efforts and extends a long-running successful relationship between the Orlando CVB and the Orange County Convention Center," Orlando CVB President and CEO Gary Sain said in a statement.

In addition to the newly expanded and integrated sales force, Orlando's Roadmap 2010 calls for:

• Promoting Vice President of Convention Sales and Services Tammi Runzler to senior vice president of convention sales and services.

• Hiring a senior vice president of convention industry relations and strategic sales focused on industry partnerships and significant new citywide business development.

• Hiring a director of corporate accounts and establishing a vertical markets sales force structure with an emphasis on corporate and SMERF meetings.

• Developing an industry white paper on the future direction of the meetings industry.

"We're reinventing how we position, sell and service as our convention district grows with new and expanding hotel and entertainment offerings and as the global meetings and convention industry continues to rapidly evolve," Sain continued. "Our Roadmap allows us to more fully capitalize on all sales opportunities while delivering our clients the best value, service and partnership available anywhere in the country. The bottom line is that we want to work closer than ever with our customers to ensure their success."
