Orbitz Names Top Destinations of 2010, 2011

Online travel company Orbitz has released its list of the most popular travel destinations of 2010, as well as its choices for the best destinations of 2011, it announced this month.


Part of the first Orbitz Insider Index of 2011 — which looks back at 2010 and forecasts the top travel trends of 2011 — the list of the 10 most popular U.S. destinations of 2010 includes:

1. Las Vegas
2. New York
3. Chicago
4. San Francisco
5. San Diego
6. Orlando
7. Honolulu
8. New Orleans
9. Washington, D.C.
10. Miami

Orbitz also named the 10 most popular international destinations of 2010, which were:

1. Cancun, Mexico
2. San Juna, Puerto Rico
3. London, England
4. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
5. Riviera Maya, Mexico
6. Paris, France
7. Toronto, Canada
8. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
9. Niagara Falls, Canada
10. Rome, Italy

Meanwhile, the "best destinations" for 2011 will be Las Vegas, Cancun and Hawaii, according to Orbitz, which calls those destinations "three tried-and-true places to travel that will continue to reinvent themselves and offer new experiences, at great prices, in 2011."

The year's trendiest hotspots, on the other hand, will be London, due to the royal wedding, and Australia, thanks to the week of Oprah shows that aired from there early this month.
