Dallas' new convention center hotel, the Omni Dallas Hotel, will officially open on Nov. 11 — two months ahead of schedule, Omni Hotels & Resorts announced last week.
Immediately following its ribbon-cutting ceremony, the hotel will host a large veteran's event in honor of Veteran's Day. Its first convention, the national sales convention for Dallas-based Freeman — which has booked approximately 800 room nights and will bring several clients who are considering Dallas for the site of their next citywide convention — will take place several days later, Nov. 13-15.
"We've seen significant demand and interest in the Omni Dallas Hotel from group, business and leisure travel, specifically for the latter part of 2011," said Ed Netzhammer, regional vice president of Omni Hotels & Resorts. "Today is milestone for the City of Dallas and its wonderful citizens. Omni Hotels & Resorts is truly honored to be a part this monumental project."
The city-owned hotel — which will have 1,001 guest rooms and over 110,000 square feet of meeting space, including 21 meeting rooms and two ballrooms — originally was scheduled to open in January 2012. Connected via skybridge to the Dallas Convention Center, it will feature five restaurants, an onsite spa, a fitness center and a rooftop terrace pool deck.
