Novotel New York has commenced an $85 million renovation designed to attract more “young, fresh, hip and edgy clientele” to the Times Square hotel, the brand’s parent, Accor group, announced last week.
Scheduled for completion in September 2013, the renovation encompasses the lobby — where a new, high-tech arrivals experience will incorporate ambient sound, video art, purposeful materials and lighting — and guest rooms, all 480 of which will be updated with a new, contemporary design. The project’s highlights, however, will include a new restaurant, Supernova, and a 5,700-square-foot outdoor bar, called “Terrace,” overlooking Times Square.
“We can’t wait to debut the ‘new’ Novotel New York this fall, and look forward to welcoming both new and returning guests to experience an unrivaled view of Times Square,” said General Manager Marc Sternagel. “The revived look of the hotel, combined with Supernova restaurant and our stunning Terrace, will offer locals and visitors alike a reason to create their own New York memories.”
