The University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in downtown Springfield, Mo., has commenced construction of a new onsite, full-service day spa that will cater to groups, owner John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts recently announced.
To be operated by local spa company Grove Spa, the 1,100-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in September on the hotel's main floor, where it will offer massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, makeup services and relaxation.
"Soon our guests will be able to enhance their exceptional hotel stay with a luxurious and relaxing experience synonymous with the legendary Grove Spa name," said General Manager Robert Henley. "We're also planning to offer dine and relax packages as the go-to spot for locals to lunch and renew with family and friends."
The Grove Spa at University Plaza Hotel will accommodate individuals and groups, including walk-ins and appointments. The self-contained facility will include three massage/skincare rooms, four pedicure stations and three manicure stations.
"Our collaboration with University Plaza Hotel will enable us to accommodate sizeable groups by constructing a larger manicure and pedicure lounge and utilizing the hotel's facilities for parties," said Haden Long, Grove Spa director. "We plan to cater to bachelorettes, brides, expo meetings and other spa groups looking for a unique and relaxing experience."
In addition to the spa construction, the hotel is in the process of updating its open-air atrium, which is a popular summer venue for live events in Springfield. Among the updates are new eco-friendly skylights that will significantly reduce energy costs and enhance atrium ambiance with softer light. For more information, visit www.upspringfield.com.
