San Francisco- MoAD, the Museum of the African Diaspora, opened this spring with 20,000 square feet of event space. Just a block from the Moscone Convention Center, the museum shares space - and catering services - with the new St. Regis Hotel.

The museum can handle receptions for 150 people, or 70 for sit-down dinners. A single service door separates the St. Regis' kitchens from MoAD's second-floor salon.

"We are much more intimate than our neighbors, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art or Yerba Buena Gardens," said MoAD facilities director Paula Ramsey.

The museum explores the movement of African descendants around the world.
