New Beach Hotel Headed to Jersey Shore in 2016

Asbury Park - Boardwalk and Convention Hall - New Jersey

A rundown former Salvation Army building in Asbury Park, NJ, will find new life when The Asbury hotel opens there in summer 2016, its developers announced last week.

The shore town's first new hotel in more than 50 years, the property will feature 110 guest rooms, a lobby bar, a rec room with ping pong and pinball machines, a rooftop garden projecting classic and cult movies at night, a pool, a "Beergarden" featuring food and beer trucks, a 4,000-square-foot nightclub with beds and lounge areas, and Asbury Hall & Lawn, a 4,800-square-foot indoor/outdoor meetings and events venue.

"This historic building is a beautiful blank canvas for us to create a special place that adds to the unique spirit of Asbury Park," said Anda Andrei, creative lead for real estate company iStar, one of the project's partners, who recruited hotel operator David Bowd as his chief collaborator. "I love collaborating with immense talent, and knew instinctively David had to be involved. He has a wonderful gift for connecting the hospitality experience with one-of-a-kind communities and we bring out the very best in one another."

The hotel will be located just two blocks from the beach and the Asbury Park Boardwalk. Rooms are expected to start at $125 per night.
