New E! Show Gives Event Planners a Reality Check

E! Entertainment Television has announced the premiere of a new reality competition that will pit nine event planners against one another as they attempt to throw the ultimate party for Hollywood celebrities on the Mexican Riviera. The weekly hour-long show, called "Party Monsters: Cabo," will debut on E! Dec. 2 at 10 p.m ET/PT.

"This series has all the right elements for our audience—celebrity parties, cutthroat competition and nonstop drama," Lisa Berger, executive vice president of original programming and series development, said in a statement. "The dynamic group of contestants and exciting roster of celebrities that we've attracted for this series are certain to hook viewers from the first episode."

Among the celebrities appearing on "Party Monsters: Cabo" will be P. Diddy, Carmen Electra, Brody Jenner and Lil Jon. Michele Merkin, meanwhile—who formerly hosted ABC's "The Next Best Thing"—will serve as the show's host, as well as a member of its judging panel, which also includes "in-house expert" Brian Worely and a weekly celebrity guest.

The show's contestants will be charged with planning a party every week at the LG Villa Cabo resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, then presenting their party ideas to the judging panel. At the end of the series, one contestant will be given the challenge of actually executing in just 24 hours the winning party idea, using eliminated contestants as his or her assistants. At stake for the winner: a position as "celebrity event planner" with the LG Villa Cabo resort.

Producing "Party Monsters: Cabo" for E! are 3 Ball Productions, which has produced series such as "The Biggest Loser" and "Beauty and the Geek," and Bischoff-Harvey Entertainment, which produced VH1's "Scott Baio Is 45 and Single."

E! will preview "Party Monsters: Cabo" on Nov. 30 at 11 p.m. ET/PT, after the season two premiere of "Snoop Dogg's Father Hood."
