Nurture by Steelcase, which manufactures furniture for health care environments, has signed a multi-year lease agreement for space in the new Nashville Medical Trade Center (NMTC), the facility's developer, Dallas-based Market Center Management Company (MCMC), announced this month.
Nurture is the first individual manufacturer to commit to opening a showroom in the planned medical mart, which is scheduled to open in 2013 on the site of the current Nashville Convention Center, which will be replaced at that time by Nashville's new Music City Center convention facility. It plans to open a showroom on the sixth floor of the NMTC and will anchor what's being called the facility's "health care furnishings neighborhood."
"Nurture's innovative, user-centered solutions will be a cornerstone of the health care furniture neighborhood of the trade center," said MCMC President and CEO Bill Winsor. "Decision makers visiting the trade center year-round will be able to experience a variety of holistic health care environments in the new Nurture showroom. We are pleased by their long-term commitment."
Upon completion, the 1.5 million-square-foot NMTC will feature more than 600 permanent showrooms and 140,000 square feet of exhibition/tradeshow space, not to mention conference facilities and meeting rooms.
The facility is jockeying along with the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center — also opening in 2013 — to become the nation's first health care marketplace pairing permanent showrooms with temporary exhibition space and education and training facilities.
