Millennium Hotel Minneapolis Announces $20 Million Renovation

In December, the Millennium Hotel Minneapolis will commence a $20 million renovation encompassing its guest rooms and meeting space, the result of which will be a "new" hotel for the 21st century in Minneapolis, Millennium Hotels and Resorts announced last week.

The renovation — during which all guest rooms and meeting space will be closed to the public — will be complete on April 1, 2013, at which point the hotel will reopen with:

• 321 completely refurbished guest rooms;
• New electrical and HVAC systems;
• A new restaurant and lounge concept;
• 22,000 square feet of completely renovated meeting space, equipped with state-of-the-art sound and lighting sytems; and
• A new, repositioned front desk and lobby area with a new two-sided gas fireplace, a lounge for food and cocktails and a "waiting" lounge.

"In no way does the term 'renovation' do justice to what we are undertaking at the property," said General Manager Robert Rivers. "The Millennium Hotel Minneapolis will be, in virtually every respect, a brand new, stylishly modern, high-design, state-of-the-art city hotel."
