Spanish hotel company Meliá Hotels International (MHI) will open a pair of hotels in Zhengzhou, China — the capital and largest city of Henan province in north-central China — it announced yesterday.
The first hotel, opening in June 2015, will be an Innside by Meliá hotel — the Meliá equivalent of Starwood’s W brand — and the second, opening in January 2016, will be a Meliá Hotels & Resorts hotel. United in a three-building complex, with one building devoted to “Innside” and two to “Meliá,” the hotels together will have 933 guest rooms.
An unspecified amount of shared meeting space will include a grand ballroom for more than 900 guests and several other multifunction meeting rooms.
“The addition of these two MHI brands brings a range of facilities and service cultures unparalleled in Zhengzhou,” MHI Vice President of Asia Pacific Bernardo Cabot said in a statement. “We are proud and excited to help bring our brands to this quickly developing city — a city that boasts a vibrant Chinese history and is a major economic hub for China — as a part of our expansion strategy in the main Chinese destinations.”
