The Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina has announced a June opening for three new event spaces currently under construction: two new ballrooms, the Marriott Grand Ballroom and the Pacific Ballroom, and an outdoor venue known as Marina Terrace.
The new ballrooms are stacked one on top of the other in a new building designed to complement the hotel's two existing towers, each of which totals 25 floors offering a combined total of 1,360 guest rooms. With a capacity of 3,700 guests apiece, each ballroom totals 36,000 square feet and has a 25,000-square-foot grand foyer. Highlights will include a Swarovski crystal ceiling installation in the ballrooms' pre-function space, a 16-screen video wall system, and an elliptical glass curtain offering unobstructed views of San Diego.
Totaling 27,000 square feet, Marina Terrace will host outdoor events overlooking the hotel's 446-slip marina. Situated between downtown San Diego and San Diego Bay, it will have capacity for up to 4,000 guests.
A final addition to the hotel will be a new "Marina Walk," a landscaped walkway featuring bike racks, benches, decorative paving, waterfront views, and unique public art installations by Los Angeles-based art collective "After Architecture."
"It's such an exciting time to plan an event at Marriott Marquis as we greatly expand our options," said Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina General Manager Tuni Kyi. "This summer we'll be unveiling a truly fresh and innovative product, answering to the tremendous demand we receive here at the hotel."
