Macon Marriott Plans Fall 2009 Opening

A new Marriott hotel will open this fall in Macon, Ga., where it is the city's first convention hotel, Noble Investment Group, the hotel's operator, announced last week. Upon opening, the 220-room hotel will have 5,000 square feet of meeting space and will connect to the adjacent Macon Centreplex, which itself has 100,000 square feet of meeting space, as well as a 9,250-seat coliseum.

"As the new first class Macon Marriott City Center Hotel is nearing their opening, we get more excited about the fabulous opportunities that will follow," Macon Mayor Robert Reichart said in a statement. "This prominent new hotel and the attached facilities in the Macon Centreplex, which are being extensively renovated, will operate as a seamless unit to make our city extremely attractive for conventions and large, multi-day events. I'm confident that whether it's only as an overnight stop for people traveling through or as a destination for a conference or convention, the new Macon Marriott City Center will be the desired venue in our region."

In addition to guest rooms and meeting space, Macon's new four-star Marriott will offer on-site audio/visual services, a business center, high-speed Internet access, in-room dining and an indoor pool.
