Hoping to merge real Vegas with virtual Vegas, MGM Mirage has launched five new iPhone apps with features designed for visitors as well as meeting planners. Available for free on iTunes, the apps include an entertainment-themed application, three property-themed applications and the city's first dedicated "augmented reality" application.
The entertainment app, "Entertainment of Las Vegas," delivers access to video previews, show times, event calendars, directions and ticket purchasing at MGM Mirage resorts, while the augmented reality app, "Vegas Reality," allows users to point their iPhone at MGM Mirage resorts while they're walking the Strip in order to instantly access information, including fun facts, deals and discounts, and available shows, restaurants and clubs.
Finally, the three resort apps — for Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand and New York-New York — offer features designed to help travelers plan their Vegas visit. Users can check the weather, for instance, review gaming rules, preview shows, create itineraries and more. Event managers, meanwhile, can send news, special offers, meeting schedules and presentations to resort guests, who in turn can use the apps to find their meeting room and review private event photos.
