The Kentucky Tourism Council (KTC) has given the Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau in Louisville, Ky., 11 Traverse Awards for its destination marketing efforts. The awards, presented Oct. 13-15 at the Kentucky Tourism Industry Annual Conference, are given annually in recognition of outstanding advertising and marketing efforts among Kentucky tourism businesses and organizations.
This year, the bureau received seven first-place awards, one second-place award and three honorable mentions.
Receiving first-place awards were the bureau's Urban Bourbon Trail brochure, its 2008-2009 Multicultural Guide, its Red Carpet Arrival program, its JustAddBourbon.com Web site, its Lunch in Louisville menu, its student postcard series and its Bourbon Country Music mailer.
Receiving a second-place award, meanwhile, was the bureau's Meeting Planners Quick Guide. Honorable mentions went to its Student T-Shirt promotion, its Skills USA video and its religious postcard series.
The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau employed a total of eight local marketing companies to create its award-winning campaigns, which were chosen as winners by a panel of industry experts in the areas of marketing, public relations and tourism from outside of Kentucky. Other Louisville area attractions and organizations that received awards were the Kentucky State Fair Board, the Kentucky Derby Festival and the Galt House Hotel & Suites.
