Louisville Arena Attracts Corporate Sponsors

At least nine companies, including a local hotel, already have signed on as corporate sponsors of Louisville's new downtown arena, pledging nearly $23 million in financial support for the facility, reports local business journal Business First of Louisville.

The latest sponsors—McDonald's Restaurants of Kentuckiana Co-op, Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc., The Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen, and The Galt House Hotel—were announced this week and join previously announced sponsors Norton Healthcare Inc., J.J.B. Hilliard, W.L. Lyons LLC, Stock Yards Bank & Trust Co., and Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance.

Under the terms of a five-year agreement, The Galt House Hotel will be "The Official Hotel Partner of the Arena," according to the Louisville Arena Authority. Meanwhile, McDonald's, Coca-Cola and The Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen—each of which signed 10-year sponsorship deals—will become the "Official Fast Food Partner of the Arena for Burgers and Fries," "Official Soft Drink of the Arena" and "Official Ice Cream and Preferred Dessert Provider for the Arena," respectively.

Currently under construction, the 22,000-seat Louisville Arena is expected to open in November 2010 with 32,000 square feet of meeting space. A topping off ceremony is scheduled for March 29, 2010.
