Long Beach Airport has a new addition.
Long Beach is ready for its closeup. Just last
month, a new terminal opened at Long Beach Airport, adding
35,000 square feet of restaurants and shops, an additional gate
arrival and more departure seating, and a palm-studded "oasis"
at its center. The renovations continued outdoors, where the
airport added garden walkways, plush red chairs, and a large
firepit.
Construction took place over two years, to the tune of $45
million. The new terminal features energy-efficient lighting
and was fitted with low-flow toilets and waterless urinals to
reduce water consumption. At press time, the airport was
applying for LEED certification for the new addition. The new
terminal also offers free Wi-Fi.
A recent $20-million renovation of the convention center
brought in new furniture, carpets, plants, and artwork. There
is now lounge-style seating in the center's restaurant, The
Center Caf�, and the 3,000-seat Terrace Theater has been
updated with new chairs.
Three Long Beach hotels unveiled renovations last year. The
528-room Hyatt Regency Long Beach has refreshed its rooms,
suites and corridors with new carpeting, and made
floor-to-ceiling upgrades to its bathrooms. The hotel offers
22,000 square feet of meeting space.
The Long Beach Marriott renovated its more than 10,000 square
feet of meeting and event space last year, including a new
1,800-square-foot outdoor courtyard.
The Long Beach Westin completely renovated its 469 rooms,
lobby, and restaurant. It will refresh its 51,000 square feet
of meeting space, elevators, and pool deck later this year.
