The Line ATX, a new hotel in downtown Austin overlooking Lady Bird Lake, will be opening its doors in coming weeks following a complete renovation. Formerly the Austin Radisson, the mid-century, modernist building has been reinvented with architecture by Austin's Michael Hsu Office of Architecture and designs by Los Angeles-based designer Sean Knibb.
Line ATX will offer 428 guest rooms, including 108 suites; expanded, locally sourced food and beverage offerings; and 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space overlooking the lake. Taking an innovative approach to its event offerings, the LINE ATX will provide seasonal a la carte menu options, family-style dining, and a show kitchen overlooking Congress Avenue. The hotel will also feature an infinity pool where craft cocktails and snacks can be enjoyed poolside.
The hotel's other food and beverage options include Arlo Grey, led by Top Chef season 10 winner, Kristen Kish, that will feature her playful yet refined cuisine. She pulls inspiration from her French and Italian cooking background, and plans to incorporate ingredients sourced from Texas and the Gulf.
Damien Brockway, former executive chef of Austin's Counter 3.Five.VII and recognized as one of Austin's Rising Stars by StarChefs in 2017, will helm the property's rooftop lounge P6.
Justin Ermini, previously the executive chef at Las Alcobas in Mexico City, will head up Bridge & Trail, a casual neighborhood bar and burger joint on the corner of Congress next to the bridge, serving burgers, salads, and sides. Ermini will also oversee the property's culinary operations as executive chef.
The lobby will include an outpost of Los Angeles-based Alfred Coffee. The cult favorite, that trademarked the widely Instagramed "But First, Coffee.", will offer a full coffee/tea menu, and take-away food items.
All of the guest rooms feature custom-designed furnishings inspired by natural materials and the landscape of central Texas, custom artwork by local artists, and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the lake on one side and the city on the other. An artist residency program will highlight emerging local talent and community partners while special events will bring locals and travelers together.
The Line is owned and operated by the Sydell Group, which has a diverse portfolio of properties including NoMad New York and Los Angeles; the LINE Los Angeles which opened in LA's Koreatown in 2014; and LINE DC, which opened in the Adams Morgan district of Washington, D.C. in January 2018.
