Lexington Lures Visitors With New Dance

Hoping to attract more visitors to Lexington, Ky., the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau (LCVB) has created a new signature dance inspired by the city, it announced last week.

Developed in partnership with the Diana Evans School of Dance, the new dance — called the "Big Lex" dance — is intended to "spread enthusiasm about Lexington and the Bluegrass area," according to the LCVB, which based the moves in the dance on different horse movements, including a trot, canter and race to the finish line, all set to a version of the famed William Tell Overture.

"The Big Lex dance is a really great way to share the spirit of Lexington with friends around the world," said LCVB Vice President of Tourism Marketing Mary Quinn Ramer. "The dance is fun and fast-moving. We hope people will learn the dance and help spread the spirit of Big Lex."
