Le Meridien Coming to Cleveland

As part of a North American expansion effort, its Le Méridien brand will open a new hotel in downtown Cleveland in January 2016, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced this month.

Part of an adaptive reuse project that will combine and renovate two adjacent historic buildings on Cleveland’s Euclid Avenue — formerly known as “Millionaire’s Row” — Le Méridien Cleveland will sport 206 guest rooms, a full-service restaurant, a bar, a 3,000-square-foot lounge, an indoor pool, a 24-hour fitness center, and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space.

“We’re thrilled to debut Le Méridien in Cleveland as part of the brand’s aggressive expansion in North America,” Brian Povinelli, global brand leader for Le Méridien and Westin Hotels, said in a statement. “Starwood has made significant investments in redeveloping Le Méridien, which connects with guests through the art, culture and cuisine in key cities around the world, and we look forward to playing a significant role in the resurgence of downtown Cleveland.”

Starwood acquired Le Méridien — established in Paris in 1972 — in 2005 and subsequently re-launched the French-born hotel brand around the themes of art and food. Presently, the brand has nearly 100 properties in more than 40 countries.
