Kimpton to Open Cleveland's First Boutique Hotel

San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has been selected to operate a new hotel in Cleveland's historic Schofield Building, which was built in 1902, the San Francisco Business Times recently reported.

Scheduled to open in 2013, the property will be Cleveland's first boutique hotel, according to Kimpton, which said its hotel will have 161 guest rooms, a chef-driven restaurant, 7,400 square feet of meeting space and an outdoor roof terrace.

"Cleveland's downtown business district is ripe for a unique boutique hotel, particularly one that showcases such an iconic, historic property as the renowned Schofield Building," Kimpton CEO Michael Depatie said, according to the Business Times. "For us, it's especially exciting to see the demand for the Kimpton brand and the boutique concept in general spreading to more mainstream cities in the Midwest and other areas of the country outside the urban centers of New York, L.A. and San Francisco."

Kimpton currently operates 52 hotels and 56 restaurants in 22 U.S. cities. The Cleveland hotel will be its sixth in the Midwest, along with The Grand Hotel in Minneapolis and Hotel Allegro, Hotel Burnham, Hotel Monaco and Hotel Palomar in Chicago.
