Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants plans to build a new luxury hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, Pa., which could open as early as next spring, local newspaper the
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported last week.
Located in the nine-story James Reed Building — a Beaux-Arts-style building constructed in 1902 — the hotel will be a Hotel Monaco with as many as 250 guest rooms. Planned amenities include an onsite restaurant, a rooftop patio and a fitness center.
“More product is always good for the marketplace,” Rick Strunk, executive director of the Greater Pittsburgh Hotel Association, told the Tribune-Review. “The more supply, the more groups we can attract.”
