Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has made its Austin, TX, debut with Hotel Van Zandt, which opened earlier this month in the city's Historic Rainey Street District.
Named for historic Texas diplomat Isaac Van Zandt, who was Texas's ambassador to the United States when the Republic of Texas was an independent country, and his third great-grandson, singer and songwriter Townes Van Zandt, the hotel has 319 guest rooms and 41 suites; an outdoor terrace with cabanas, a pool, and a bar; a signature restaurant that will double as a live music venue; and 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space for groups of up to 500.
It also features a series of original artwork by JT Van Zandt, son of Townes Van Zandt, whose paintings pay tribute to his father and Austin's world-famous music scene.
"We are excited to share our fun-spirited service and Texas Hill Country-inspired design with the Austin community and our guests," said General Manager Joe Pagone. "We believe that when people step into Hotel Van Zandt they will feel at home while at the same time getting a true Austin experience."
