Kimpton Hotel Eventi Looks to Localize Meeting Offerings

Almost two years ago, when the trend toward experiential travel was just taking off, the Kimpton Hotel Eventi in New York completed a multi-million dollar renovation, brought to life by Brooklyn-based firm Créme and designed to elevate the guest experience as well as attract locals into the hotel's public areas. The upgrades included the transformation of the hotel lobby into a central hub with a seating area connected to The Vine lounge, refreshed rooms, and event spaces. The hotel is flanked by two restaurants, L'Amico and Lupulo, led by world-renowned chef Laurent Tourondel and Michelin-starred chef George Mendes, respectively.

Carol Ajikata, Eventi's newly appointed director of sales and marketing, is looking to offer groups more than just a place to meet and rub elbows with locals. Through partnerships with local businesses, Eventi already has several meeting program offerings that provide attendees with local -- and personalized -- experiences, and Ajikata told Successful Meetings she is on the hunt for more.

Here are some of Eventi's current meeting program offerings.

Shop With Rox

New York City's fashion capital status and Eventi's location neighboring the Garment District make it a perfect spot for shopaholics. The property has an established partnership with Roxy Hauldron, a local stylist and personal shopper, to help time-crunched attendees dress for a big meeting, event, or night out. Hauldron provides pre-arrival consultation and will develop a personalized digital lookbook of recommended styles. Participants select their favorite outfits, jewelry, handbags, and shoes from the lookbook, which will be prepared in-room and ready for their arrival. Customized shopping itineraries are also available or three-hour private, all-access shopping tours to discover off-the-beaten path shops and boutiques.

NYC Sleep Doctor

It may be the "City That Never Sleeps," but planners know attendees need their rest, especially during meetings. Eventi has a partnership with Dr. Janet Kennedy, Ph.D., founder of NYC Sleep Doctor, to help participants conquer jet lag, unfamiliar pillows, and other sleep disturbment. The "Sleep Soundly in the City Package" includes sleep aiding amenities including exclusive tips, one discounted private session with Kennedy to assess sleep habits, a choice of foam or feather pillows, a sound machine, lavender-scented room spray, an eye mask, bathrobe, an in-room yoga mat, and Atelier Bloem bath products. 

Shinnyo Center for Meditation and Well-Being

Meditation breaks at meetings have become a hot trend, and Eventi is right on track to quench attendees' desire to find their zen. The property has a partnership with the midtown Manhattan-based the Shinnyo Center for Meditation and Well-Being. The center offers groups guided meditation and jazz meditation sessions as well as menu counseling. 

Founded in 1981 and widely regarded as the United States' first boutique hotel chain, Kimpton has a long history and reputation in the hospitality industry for providing local experiences through partnerships with the community. Each property is tasked with developing their own local connections and unique style. 

Located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan on Sixth Avenue between 29th and 30th Street, the 292-room Eventi boasts 20,000 square feet of meeting space with natural light and city views, including flexible indoor event rooms, two outdoor terraces, two hospitality suites, and a 4,000-square-foot ballroom with 16-foot ceilings. The property is equipped with a 30-foot outdoor multimedia art screen and a Business Bar, where guests can borrow gadgets such as iPads or Bluetooth speakers.
